About Me

My name is Laura Robinson and I graduated from Newcastle University in July 2010 with a First Class BA Honours in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies. After 9 months I have just completed the bespoke gradate rotation scheme at MEC London.

The idea of this blog came about after I was offered a job on MEC's grad scheme. I noticed that there was minimal information available about the MEC grad scheme and what it actually entailed. I thought it would be great to document my rotation around the different departments within a media agency and hopefully help prospective grads to gain a clearer and more detailed understanding of what the grad scheme at MEC offers.
As well as departmental blog posts I also include opinion-based posts on current media trends and news.
My personal interests lie within the growing number of media communication platforms and how brands can utilise and integrate their core communication strategy around a multitude of media channels and creative content. I'm particularly interested in digital media including the role of social media and how brands and media owners are using social technology to create and offer platforms for creating new content.
I am now officially working as a Communications Planner at MEC and spend a small proportion of my time also working in New Business .

I hope you find my blog entertaining and informative and I welcome your thoughts and opinions. Please feel free to comment on any of my posts or ask me any questions via twitter @LaurRobbo88
